A WEB

Six delegates from Ethiopia, including Prof. Merga Bekana, Chairperson of National Electoral Board of Ethiopia, visited the Secretariat of A-WEB for two days on May 31 and June 1. The purpose of the visit was to acquire knowledge and information on the Korean election system as part of their effort to reform the existing election system to strengthen the integrity of electoral processes in Ethiopia.

In order to maximize the effect of the short study tour, the Secretariat of A-WEB prepared a well-organized program. The first part of the program was a lecture on modern Korean political history and changes in the past election system of Korea. This lecture was followed by another lecture on the current election system of Korea which was comprehensive and explained each sub-topic in a detailed manner. Based on the background knowledge learned from the two lectures, a presentation and demonstration of the election ICT used in Korea was given to the delegates. In the last lecture, the delegates were given a presentation and demonstration of the election ICT-based projects carried out by A-WEB.

After all the lectures, the Ethiopian delegation and Secretariat of A-WEB exchanged their thoughts of the program and discussed ways of working together in the near future. The delegation said that despite the time constraint they had a meaningful visit to the Secretariat in which they were able to learn a lot about the election system of Korea and to strengthen their relationship with A-WEB.
