Publication of the A-WEB April Newsletter in 2023

Thanks to the valuable contribution from member EMBs in Colombia, Malawi, Mexico, Romania, Zambia, Korea, Portugal,  and cooperation from colleagues in the office, the A-WEB Secretariat published this year’s fourth issue of the A-WEB Newsletter on April 27, 2023.


In the Newsletter, the Secretariat presented news from member organizations;


The National Civil Registry of the Republic of Colombia is planning to provide electoral facilitators as a pedagogical strategy to prepare for Election day on October 29,2023 to elect territorial authorities: Governors, mayors, deputies, councilors or members of Local Authorities Boards.


Malawi Electoral Commission will move its head office to Liongwe and stakeholders in the Southern region will be served by the Regional Election Office.


Ms.Guadalupe Taddei has been elected as the new President Councillor of the National Electoral Institute of Mexico who will serve from April 4, 2023 to April 3, 2032. Moreover, Mr.Arturo Castillo, Ms.Rita Bell Lopez, and Mr. Jorge Montano were elected electoral councilors for the same period. 


Mr. Toni GREBLA has been appointed as President of the Permanent Electoral Authority which manages elections and referendums in Romania by decision of the Parliament of the Country.


The Electoral Commission of Zambia in December 2022 announced the appointment of Mrs.Mwangala F. Zaloumbis, Amb. Ali D. Simwinga and Mr.McDonald G. Chipenzi as Commission Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and Commissioner, effective December 2022. Furthermore, Zambia also successfully co-hosts the Second Summit For Democracy on from 30 to 31 March 2023.

The delegation from Mongolia visited the NEC Republic of Korea for a study on the political fund system on the sideline of its visit to the Supreme Court on April 12, 2023


The Portuguese National Electoral Commission promoted on February 14th, a public session on the theme “Electoral enlightenment and new technique and technologies - reflection on “fake news” and AI in elections. Electoral Administration of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries- ROJAE-CPLP participated the session.


Lastly, On April 12, the delegates from the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC), Chairperson Mr.Mosotho Moepya, Deputy CEO Mr.Mawethu Mosery, and Head of Commission Service Mlungsi Kelembe visited the A-WEB Secretariat in Incheon, Korea.
