Jaffna District Workshop to obtain views and suggestions from stakeholder groups on the formulation of the Four Year Strategic Plan (2022~2025)
Preparation of Strategic Plan (2022-2025) -contributed by the Election Commission of Sri Lanka-
The Second Election Commission,which was appointed on 10 December 2020, has prepared a strategic plan for the period 2022-2025 and has commenced preliminary work to implement the associated strategic activities from the first quarter of 2022.
A Planning Committee formed under the plan will review the activities of the first plan 2017-2020 as its first task and identify the activities that could not be implemented, the activiess that need to be further expanded and the new activiews that need to be added.
This plan, which is being formulated with the assistance of an external advisior, is based on discussions with Election Commission officials, Returning Officers, groups of political parties and other stakeholders, and their proposals are being taken into account in the participatory planning process. Accordingly, discussions were held with all the District Deputy/Assistant Commissioners of Elections on 17 November 2021; with the Election Commission on 5 December 2021; and with the Planning Committee and staff officers of the Head Office on 7 December 2021. In addition, a mechanism has been devised to consult with the stakeholders, viz. election professionals,monitoring groups, journalists, the disabled , women and youth groups, professionals and government officals, and seek their views. All District Deputy/ Assistant Commissioners of Elections plan to consult with stakeholder groups at the district level and seek their views and suggestions. The preparation of this strategic plan is expected to be completed in January 2022 and will be followedby an annual action plan relevant to its strategic activities.
