 Election system 

 · Number of polling stations: 2,473

 · Opening and closing time of polling stations

  -  6 am and 1 pm respectively

 · Number of registered voters: 6,897,076 (2017 election)

 · Voter turnout: 98.15% (2017 presidential election)

 - Presidential: Elected in one round of voting by the plurality

 - Parliamentary

   1. 53 elected directly by proportional representation in a single nationwide constituency

   2. 24 elected by electoral colleges formed in provinces

   3. three members are elected by mini-committees

   4. two from youth and one from disability groups. 

 - Local elections: Members of sector and district councils are elected indirectly, with reserved seats for representatives of interest groups of women and youth. 

 

 · Voting process

   1. Vote only once, voting is secret and the use of a voting booth is compulsory. 

   2. Voting (Cast ballots)

   3. The officer affixes a stamp “YATOYE” on the voter card. 

 

 · Counting process

   1. Manual Count in Polling Station: take each ballot out of the box one by one consecutively, and display it to the attending public witnesses.

   2. The votes obtained by each candidate or candidates list are counted as valid votes and the spoiled and blank votes are also recorded. 

   3. The polling officials sign the tally sheets, the delegates of the political parties also sign.
