As A-WEB continues preparations for the 7th General Assembly to be held in Manila this October, the 14th Executive Board Meeting held in Yerevan this March served as an important opportunity to discuss a broad range of agenda items, including key governance and institutional transition matters.

Hosted by the Central Election Commission of Armenia, led by Chairman Mr. Vahagn Hovakimyan, the meeting underscored the importance of integrity, independence, and neutrality in maintaining public trust, while also emphasizing closer cooperation and solidarity among EMBs in addressing emerging challenges to democratic processes worldwide, including technological change and disinformation.

During the meeting, Ms. Rita Taeryung Lee, Director of the External Relations Department of the A-WEB Secretariat, presented key agenda items related to preparations for the upcoming General Assembly and institutional transition processes within the organization. Ms. Lee also outlined the procedural framework for the nomination and appointment of the next Secretary General and Vice Chair, as well as preparations for the selection of new Executive Board members whose terms will conclude at the upcoming General Assembly.

Executive Board members also highlighted the importance of ensuring that qualified and committed leadership is appointed to these positions to further strengthen A-WEB’s development.

Following the meeting, the Secretariat officially informed all member EMBs of the application and nomination procedures for the next Secretary General and Vice Chair positions. In particular, member EMBs interested in serving as Vice Chair are warmly encouraged to review the relevant guidelines and actively participate in the upcoming process.

The Executive Board Meeting also reaffirmed A-WEB’s shared commitment to transparency, cooperation, and continuity in strengthening electoral integrity and democratic governance worldwide.

As preparations for the 7th General Assembly continue, A-WEB looks forward to welcoming member EMBs to Manila, Philippines from 12 to 17 October 2026. The gathering will provide an important opportunity for members to engage in discussions on the future direction of the organization and further strengthen global electoral cooperation.
