A WEB

On August 19th, 2015, the 2nd General Assembly of the Association of World Election Bodies successfully took place in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Almost 200 participants from 67 member organizations attended the event. Members reached an agreement on various topics and approved important agenda items, building another momentous cornerstone in strengthening the association's foundation and reaffirming its vision. At the General Assembly, the founding Chairperson, Mr. Lee In-Bok handed over his chairmanship to Mr. Rosario Marquez, the Chairperson of the Junta Central Electoral of the Dominican Republic. Ms. Ana Maria Patru, President of the Permanent Electoral Authority of Romania became a new Vice Chairperson of A-WEB. Congratulations were also extended to the new members of the Association and newly elected Executive Board members.  

The General Assembly was followed by an International Conference held under the theme of "Roles and Challenges of EMBs in Ensuring Integrity of Elections" and the Election Knowledge Fair, which showcased various ICT-based election management devices. The conference and the fair ran from August 19th to August 21st.
