A Memorandum of Understanding was
signed between the Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB) and the Independent High Election Commission of the Republic of
Iraq (IHEC) on February 07, 2017 in Tunis, Tunisia. The MOU-signing was decided
by Kim Yong-Hi, Secretary General to A-WEB, and Sarbast Mustafa Rasheed, Chairperman
to IHEC, who had found it necessary and useful for both organizations to
establish a mechanism for cooperation in the design and implementation of the
electoral process, and for mutual consultation and cooperation in the field of electoral
management and administration.
Based on this
MOU, A-WEB and IHEC are to work together in introducing electronic voting &
counting systems and to maintain close relationships in order to enhance the
expertise and performance of the election officials of the IHEC.
