Secretary General Kim Yong-Hi of A-WEB has delivered his welcoming message on May 31st, marking the beginning of 2014 Election Visitor Program in Korea. Secretary General Kim started by briefing A-WEB's activities since the establishment. After thanking the members for their participation and support, the Secretary General went on to explain the objectives of the Visitor Program. Secretary General Kim claimed that "the shape of elections may vary from country to country depending on the current situation or social, cultural and historical background. However, impartiality and transparency of election is the common value which shall not be deniable" and said he is confident that "[the Visitor Program] will serve as an opportunity ... to experience systems and policies for transparent and free election, electoral system utilizing fast-developing Information and Communications Technology, as well as the passion and commitment of electoral officials toward fair elections." |
