The First 11 day’s course of the 2014 Capacity Building Project 


A-WEB successfully held its First 11 day’s course of the 2014 Capacity Building Project that ran from the 18th August 2014 to 28th August 2014 at Secretariat of the A-WEB located in Songdo, Incheon South Korea. 18 election officials from 6 countries (Kenya, Mali, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Colombia, and Uzbekistan) participated in this course. Participants attended seminars on current issues in election and had an opportunity to visit the National Election Commission of Korea.

 

Main topics discussed in the seminars included ▲Issues & Challenges in Each Phase of the Electoral Process ▲Political Development and Role of EMBs ▲ Electoral Integrity, Freedom & Fairness ▲Electoral law enforcement ▲Introduction & Practices of Election ICT ▲Guaranteeing fairness in election ▲Civic education ? citizen’s participation in the electoral process.

 

The participants also had opportunities to experience the Korean Election ICT and to get a deeper sense and understanding of election in Korea with the most recent technology. 

 

Through this first course of the 2014 Capacity Building Project, A-WEB created a suitable platform for the participants to be introduced and to share electoral knowledge. All participants attending this course had one goal - building their electoral management capacity. A-WEB will host the second phase of the 2014 Capacity Building Project from 15th September 2014 to 25th September 2014.
