The A-WEB Secretariat attended the Forum on the first day. One of the Forum’s presenters, Mr. Seung Ryeol Kim, the advisor to the Secretary General and Deputy Director of the A-WEB Secretariat, shared opinions on the roles of citizenship training and civic education, which are keys to preserving and promoting democratic values across society, stating as follows:

“We always emphasize the importance of civic education. Now, however, I think we should equally pay attention to the effectiveness and usefulness of a civic education program. To make a civic education program more effective and useful, we need to have a clear goal, a clear understanding of both provider and audience, and key ideas to deliver through a specific program.”

The 2022 Global Summit for Democracy will be organized in September this year by the National Electoral Institute of Mexico in partnership with international organizations to develop a comprehensive and global process for the challenges facing today’s democratic regimes, especially free and fair elections.
