On 11 September 2022, the Russian Federation held a regular single voting day, during which 4.7 thousand election campaigns of various levels were held in 82 subjects of the Russian Federation. In total, more than 31 thousand deputy mandates and elected positions were replaced following the results of the elections.
Direct elections
of senior officials (governors) of the regions were held in 14 constituent entities and elections of deputies of legislative bodies – were in 6. A total of 69,244 candidates were
registered.
Over 44 million voters were on
the voter lists – 35 percent took part in the voting. The voting was held for
three days – on 9, 10 and 11 September.
Almost 128
thousand observers and media representatives attended.
83% of polling stations and about 80% of territorial election commissions in 51
subjects of the Russian Federation were equipped with video surveillance and
video recording facilities. Almost 30 million voters were covered.
The "Mobile
Voter" mechanism, which allows voting
at a selected polling station in the voters’ constituency, was used in 37 constituent
entities of the Russian Federation.
Eight subjects of
the Russian Federation used the technology of
remote electronic voting. The turnout of voters who wished to vote
remotely ranged from 82 to 89%. Almost 1.7 million people in Moscow voted
remotely – This is 43.5 percent of the total turnout.
This year, 5916
polling stations had ballot processing
complexes (BPCs). The coverage of voters at polling stations with BPCs amounted
to more than 10 million.
The next single voting day in the Russian Federation will be held on 10 September 2023.
