Maldives Presidential Election Presidential election was held in the Maldives on Saturday, September 9, 2023, but no candidate could secure a majority of the vote. The top two finishers, Mohamed Muizzu and Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, will face off in a second round on September 30. In the first round of voting, Muizzu won 46 percent, while Solih won 39 percent. Turnout was 79.85%. The President of the Maldives is directly elected by absolute majority vote in up to two rounds and serves up to two 5-year terms.
