Empowering Elections: Gender-Sensitive Legislation Initiative in Mongolia
From October 23 to 26, 2023, Seoul,
Republic of Korea, the venue for the 'Election Management Capacity Building
Program.' This initiative, undertaken jointly by the Association of World
Election Bodies (A-WEB), the National Election Commission of Korea, the Korea
International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and the United Nations Development
Programme (UNDP), focused on the implementation of gender-sensitive legislation
in Mongolia.
The event's agenda included examining the
role of the National Election Commission of Korea. Participants from Mongolia's
General Election Commission, Supreme Court, and Parliament were briefed on
Korea's election management strategies.
The second day centered on Korea's
Political Finance System. The session covered the system's mechanics and
practices, providing insights that could be adapted for Mongolia.
On October 25, 2023, the delegation from
Mongolia visited the National Election Commission (NEC) of Korea. This visit
included a tour of the Voting & Counting Experience Center, showcasing
various voting methods such as early and shipboard voting.
The program concluded on October 26, 2023. The A-WEB Secretariat thanked the speakers and participants, highlighting the event's role in sharing knowledge about election management.
The program aimed to offer insights into effective election practices and the implementation of gender-sensitive legislation in Mongolia. Participants were encouraged to apply the knowledge gained in their respective roles in Mongolia.
