· Main functions of EMB : Article 45 of the Constitution 1992; Electoral Commission Act 1993:
- To compile the register of voters (see Voter registration and voters' rolls) and revise it as such periods as may be determined by law;
- To undertake the delimitation of constituencies for both national and local government elections;
- To conduct and supervise all public elections and referenda (See Voting process, Secrecy of the ballot, Counting and Announcement of results);
- To educate the people on the electoral process and its purpose (see Civic and voter education);
- To undertake programmes for the expansion of the registration of voters (see Voter registration and voters' rolls); and
- To perform such other functions as may be prescribed by law (see Election period and dates), overseeing Candidate nominations and accrediting and Election observation missions).
- To undertake the preparation of voter identity cards (see Voter registration and voters' rolls); and
- To store properly election material.
