[Russia] Reference and information material on holding a Single Voting Day in the Russian Federation on September 8-10, 2023

From September 8 to 10, 2023, a Single Voting Day was held in the Russian Federation. More than 4,200 election campaigns at various levels, including by-elections of deputies to the State Duma, elections of heads of 26 constituent entities of the Federation (21 direct and 5 through voting in parliament) and elections of deputies to legislative (representative) bodies of state power in 16 constituent entities of the Russian Federation were conducted. Some 31.5 million voters took part in the voting. The total turnout amounted to 45.65% (voter coverage - about 60% of Russians with the right to vote).  Almost 33 thousand candidates from 13 parties were elected.

  

81,306 candidates were registered for the elections at all levels on the Single Voting Day: 70,726 candidates from 20 political parties out of 23 and 10,580 self-nominated candidates. Almost 183,000 observers and over 4,600 media representatives worked in election commissions on voting days. More than 3.7 million voters took part in Remote Electronic Voting, which took place in 25 regions of the country.
