 Election system  

 · Number of polling stations: 84,851

 · Opening and closing time of polling stations

  -  8 am and 4 pm respectively

 · Number of registered voters: 24,799,384 (2020 elections)

 · Voter turnout: 74.07 % (2020 parliamentary elections)

 - Presidential: Absolute majority vote through a two-round system

 - Parliamentary: In the Congress of the Republic (Congreso de la Republica) 130 members are elected by open list proportional representation in multi-member constituencies. District magnitude ranges from 2-7, except for Lima and Madre de Dios.

 

 · Voting process 

   1. Verify voter ID

   2. Insert the card into the machine where you will make your vote.

   3. Press the option of your preference. Click "Next". The summary of your vote will appear on the screen. If you are satisfied, press "Confirm"; if not, press "Change" and modify your vote. 

   4. Receive the printed certificate and remove the activation card from the slot.

   5. Give the card to the table member, and enter the voting certificate in the amphora.

 

 · Counting process

   1. With the Automated Counting System, the electoral results will be entered into a computer application by the table members. 

   2. Once the results have been recorded, the number of tally sheets will be printed. 

   3. Election results with the SEA are automatically transmitted to headquarters. 

   4. The National Office of Electoral Processes​ (ONPE) is implementing the SEA. 

   5. Issue the Scrutiny Certificate.
